Power Back Up

Power Back Up

Electric generator, also called dynamo, is the machine that converts mechanical energy to electricity for transmission and distribution over power lines to domestic, commercial, and industrial customers. The mechanical power for an electric generator is usually obtained from a rotating shaft and is equal to the shaft torque multiplied by the rotational, or angular, velocity.

The details regarding the Generators available in our campus are:

Panel room provision for switching the Generator when there is no Grid Supply The procedure for Starting and Stopping of the Generator is For starting DG Set
  1. Check fuel level into the diesel service tank.
  2.  Check battery voltage on the alternator panel.
  3. Check coolant level into the radiator.
  4. Start lubricating pump by pushing its “START” button on the breaker panel.
  5. Engine will pick up and will develop voltage.
  6. Check voltages between R-Y, Y-B and B-R. It should be 415 to 420volts.
  7. Check frequency of supply, it should be 49.5 to 50Hz.
  8. Now close the D.G. breaker from the alternator panel.
  9. Check various readings of parameters on alternator panel.
For stopping DG Set
  1. Check final readings of parameters.
  2. Open the breaker to isolate the DG set.
  3. Press the “STOP” button on the alternator panel to stop the D.G set.
  4. Turn the key of DG set to OFF position.

The main objective of the Generator is to have uninterrupted Electrical Power Supply to the loads continuously.

Regular maintenance is made to the available Generator with Srinivasa Sales and Services, Vijayawada via AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract). Under this AMC there will be visit by the service person from Srinivasa Sales and Services bimonthly in a year i.e. six times in a year. During his visit there will be a complete checking of the Generator working under both no load and loaded condition. Along with this there will be B-check i.e replacement of Coolant, Filters and Filter Oil once in every one year under this AMC.
