A great resource of learning

Central Library serves as a place where students can delve deeper into their subjects and widen the horizons of their knowledge.

Central Library and six departmental libraries, which collectively support the teaching, research and extension programmes of the Institute.

In order to help its students to keep abreast with the changes happening in the world of technology, the library also subscribes to online journals, periodicals, and regional and national newspapers.

The activity of providing library facilities to the students and staff started along with the starting of academic programmes. The library activity of DIET started with the setting up of library for College of Engineering in 2009.

The Central Library functions in an efficient way providing maximum accessibility to books and other study materials. To optimize the resource utilization and maximize convenience to the users, the need of centralizing the library facility was felt. Accordingly DIET Management took a bold step of constructing a Central building of architectural excellence with all modern gadgets.

The Library has a total plinth area of 1248.6 Sq. Mts and facilities like air conditioned and seating capacity of 250. The Library is ideally and centrally located at the heart of the campus overlooking the vast expanse of scores of acres. It is garlanded by a cluster of academic building, classrooms, laboratories, workshops, sports grounds with international standards, canteen and hostel buildings.

Students should possess at least one text book for each subject of their study.

It may be noted that library is not a provider of text books to students for their routine studies.

Library is a reservoir of various sources of information and knowledge and students should utilize library as a source of additional information.

They should cultivate the habit of studying in the library during library hours instead of leaving the college soon after the class work is over.

All eligible SC/ST students should make use of the SC/ST book bank for their text books.

Digital Library - as on 22-01-2018

The digital library is established with more than 20 desktops with advanced configuration connected with high speed internet and latest NPTEL Educational videos – lectures of IIT professionals, connected to LAN (intranet) wide spreading the learning environment. Library is a free wi-fi Zone opening the path to the international competitive world for students. Central Library uses e-cap software package, which is an integrated multi-tier library management system that supports all in-house operations of the Library.

Central Library providing Centralized network storage and access from anywhere in the campus either by using wi-fi or wired network. Also this centralized storaage can be accessed in the campus or outside the campus.

To Access centralized storage in-campus
Open Run Command and type \\172.16.17.4 and enter given user-id and password

To Access centralized storage out-campus
Open Run Command and type \\117.239.148.86 and enter given user-id and password

The different types of searches available to users are simple search, advanced search additional search, browse, ISBN, accession number, latest arrivals, journals, patrons and bulletin. In browsing the user can access the database through author, title, subject, classified, keywords and combinational search.
