Research (R&D)

Dhanekula Institute of Engineering and Technology (DIET) is a premier educational institute established in year 2009. DIET has taken a leap towards research and initiated its R&D and Consultancy Cell in pursuing research that makes a difference to the society. The Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC) co-ordinates with the industries and R&D and Consultancy Cell facilitates all research and development activities at the Institute.

In a world increasingly propelled by technology, Institutional research is the foundation of any nation’s economic growth. And the Institute is committed to basic long-term research in frontier areas, made concerted efforts to align its R&D focus with the national goal of achieving technological self-reliance. Students and faculty conduct research projects in thrust areas of science and engineering. The institute has ongoing academic and research collaborations with many Industries locally in order to keep pace with expanding frontiers of knowledge and global developments.

  • Lead the academic world and conduct nationally high-level researches in each engineering field.
  • Aim to discover new phenomena and create new technologies, based on principles and rules in natural phenomena and pursuit of truth in each engineering field.
  • Aim to globalize research and education.
  • Conduct researches that contribute to the development of human resources who can play a leading and core role in society and researchers who can conduct cutting-edge researches.

R&D is carried out at three levels.

  • Faculty research (Ph.D.)
  • Student research M.Tech. and B.Tech. – Mini Project and Major Project
  • Outsourced research (Funding from outside agencies)

Funding Agencies

  • Internal Funding by College
  • Funding by alumni
  • Funding by Outside Agencies

Status

  • Every Department has created R&D centres for perusing research and development which are operational actively.
  • Emphasis is laid in M.Tech. projects for work leading to publications.
  • More faculty members are pursuing PhD using in house resources.
  • More than 100 research publications in refereed journals and in conferences in last 5 years.
  • PhD’s are produced under the guidance of senior faculty of the college and using its infrastructure in last 5 years.
  • To identify thrust areas of research.
  • To advise and encourage the faculty to carry out research.
  • The research committee visits the various departments of the college and meets the faculty to encourage and motivate them to undertake research projects and go through the proposals before submitting to funding agencies.
  • To identify the physical and human resources to carryout research.
  • To identify the budgetary requirements and resources for funding the research.
  • To periodically review the progress of research and offer necessary guidance whenever required.
  • To monitor the funding from college budget for promotion of research activities.
  • To scrutinize minor and major research project proposals for sponsored project funding organizations such as UGC, AICTE, DST, DRDO etc.
  • To monitor and assess the progress of sponsored research projects.
  • To review and monitor academic Ph.D work.
  • To advise and arrange seminars / conferences / workshops.
  • To establish technology incubation centres.
  • To see that the results of research lead to patenting/product generation/solve some of societal problems.
  • Faculties are encouraged to attend FDPs, conferences and workshops. Registration Fee for FDPs, conferences and workshops will be paid by management
  • College is providing relaxed workload for those who are involved in Ph.D / Research.
  • Research methodology classes are conducting for UG and PG students.

To render advice and guidance for future growth on research related issues to the top management a “Research Advisory Committee” is being constituted with senior faculty. The committee will provide advice on Academic Research, Sponsored Research, Consultancy, Industrial Training etc. The scope of the activities envisaged for the committee include:

To provide policy guidelines and direction for the growth and development of research activities

To advice on thrust areas and disciplines for introducing research programmes and related activities for future development in research.

To suggest measures for improving existing infrastructural facilities both for academic and sponsored research and enhancing research ambiance.

To recommend projects and suitable for availing concession if any from State and Central Governments.
